I've applied for EAD/AP renewal for both myself and my wife. I spent $1,290 for this.
Say I got my GC approved and then I call USCIS and withdraw my pending EAD/AP application. Will I get a refund for pending EAD/AP application, if I get my GC approved before EAD/AP approval?

Nope. You will be asked to pay double the amount for 485 since they approved it before your EAD :D

If you don't get your EAD renewal card you should stop working. Because it is illegal.
As per the processing dates, they are processing the applications recieved on March 17th,2008 at Nebraska.
I am hoping that I will recieve my approval before September 10th, but incase i dont..what are my options?
I know they approved many applications last month before the 30th june deadline but i guess they will go back to their slow procedures now.

singhsa3, Thanks for compiling this report. Could you tone down the statement in the below quote.. make it "You have to be in the same position with same job responsibilities for quite a few years....."
It would be nice if you could provide a link to the USCIS Ombudsman report because you are referring to it a lot. This make the report more authentic for the reader.

As far as I know there is a Malayalam IPTV service available for North American viewers. It is called "BomTV" (Best of Malayalam TV) with Asianet (4 channels), Jeevan, Jaihind, Shalom, Powervision, etc. You don't need dish or cable or computer and you get HD transmission on your TV. You don't need to be working in the US while the AOS is pending. You just need to have the job when permanent residence is approved, or to have a job in the "same or similar occupational classification."

I think IV should stay focussed with what they are doing right now. This is a non-profit forum with a purpose and lets let it be that way.
We can probably make it more expansive as we get more volunteers to moderate the forum but with whats going on right now,we should let the core members focus on what they are doing.
I strongly agree with Berkleybee that this aint a one-stop shop.There is a danger of core issues getting diluted.

My 140 was filed in Nov 2006. I had to wait 2 full years before my case got approved in Nov 2008.
My lawyer did not even open a service request. She was against infopass too. Her reason was that these would work for any other case except 140.
Based on my experience, I would recommend the following:
1. Ask your lawyer to go through AILA. This is the most preferred way and should work in 99% of the cases (This is what worked for me though it took a lot of time)
2. If option 1 does not work, try to go through your local congressman.

guys I am in a similar boat....unfortunately, my wife did not get matched this year because we were only trying for programs that sponsor H1....We have heard bad stories about J1.....but in that process she missed getting a residency spot this year......do you guys mind sharing which hospitals your wives are doing their residency at?.....any suggestions for us?....do they know of any open positions?

Lot of people seeking h1b with excellent qualifications and credentials could not make it this year. This may get even worse based on retrogression.
What is really happening is, most of residency application initial screening is done by residency coordinators. They don't know what is happening around. They follow protocols, say a program has 20 seats and 500 applications, they will filter based on citizen, GC and some H1b/J1 etc.... Now due to retrogression, a lot of h4 not having EAD or GC which was not case earlier as people keep getting GC or EAD and fall have more competition in the EAD/GC area, but now it is like, out if 500 applications alomst 300 would be h1b /J1 seekers and programs decide to filter a lot fo them and just interview a few. Out of few h1b/j1 seekers getting interviewed, many may have UK clinical experience (they are most preferred as they are considered a perfect fit).
On the other hand, a lot of h1b/J1 seekers have strong strong recomendations. Especially those doctors who have son's/daughters/nephew/relatives etc... all community hospitals fill up some of their h1b/J1 seats in this manner. And this is also a growing trend.
Some people join hospitals as research/observerships/externships and do their best to create an impression, and in some cases these candidates are considered for a resdency onn h1b/J1.
So, it is not a straight forward process.
You may try St Barnabas, Bronx Lebanon hospital, and other programs in Bronx, where some seats do get left out even till the end, and I have heard that if you keep persistantly approaching them and show interest they will consider if they have an option.
But overall, retrogression seems to be a main cause for flooding of H1b seekers in residency, this has made it relatively easy for GC/EAD/Citizen to get into residency programs without competition

You cannot ask for an interim card by or before September 10th as you finish your 90 days of application only by September 23rd (and you might actually get your card by that time). What you should do if you don't receive your EAD by the mid of August is to take an infopass appointment and request them to speed up your process. Be genuinely sincere and explain your case. If you are lucky they might either issue you an interim card or might just get NSC to speed up your application.
My take is you will receive your card by the end of August at the very least. So don't worry.
